This online exhibition uses materials primarily from the School Desegregation in Norfolk, Virginia digital collection to tell the story of Norfolk's school desegregation and pays tribute to the Norfolk 17, the 17 young students whose sacrifices allowed greater educational opportunities for all children. Originally created in 2008 for the 50th anniversary of the reopening of Norfolk's schools, the online exhibition was updated and converted to this new format in 2021.
