About the Exhibit

This exhibit was created for the 75th Anniversary of Old Dominion University -- 2005. It combines text, photographs, and audio from oral histories that are part of the University Archives housed in Perry Library's Special Collections. The site will continue to expand as more building histories are included.

The following individuals are responsible for the Web exhibit:

  • Steven Bookman, University Archivist, provided historical information for the chronology page.

  • Susan Catlett , Special Collections, provided the photos from the University Archives. Photos are available in the University Archives of Perry Library.

  • Ann Pettingill, Associate University Librarian, served as team leader and editor.

  • Teresa Statler-Keener, Reference Department, researched and compiled the textual material from the various University histories and other materials.

  • Karen Vaughan, Digital Services, researched and compiled all materials for the Web site. kvaughan@odu.edu or 757-683-4184

Dr. Charles Burgess, Steve Daniel, Cynthia Wright Swaine, Dr. James R. Sweeney and others assisted with reviewing the site and filling in various details. Special thanks to Dr. James R. Sweeney for his diligent efforts in documenting the history of the university through oral history interviews and his work as the University Archivist.
