Introduction

Since 1938, Homecoming has been a cornerstone of pride and tradition at Old Dominion University (ODU). It has evolved greatly over the decades, with some traditions enduring and some being removed over time. What began as a football game and a dance, has evolved into an entire week of festivities. Today, students, alumni, and community members come together to participate in a variety of events, including the annual tailgate, parade, concert, and other festivities that showcase the vibrant culture and traditions of the University.

As you continue through this digital exhibition, you will explore the history and evolution of Homecoming at ODU, discovering how traditions, student experiences, and campus culture have shaped one of the university's most enduring celebrations.
